The online course “Supercomputação: Aceleramos o futuro, juntos!” (Supercomputing: Accelerating the Future, Together!) is back for its second edition, now available on the NAU platform. This free and accessible MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) aims to introduce participants to the fundamentals and real-world applications of High-Performance Computing (HPC) in Portugal and Europe.

With over 3,700 participants in its first edition, the course was a resounding success and continues to be a key educational resource developed under the EuroCC Portugal project.

The second edition brings updated content and new modules, reflecting the latest developments in HPC, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and national infrastructures such as Deucalion and MareNostrum5.

What’s new?

• A dedicated module on national supercomputers and resources from the National Advanced Computing Centre (CNCA);
• A comprehensive introduction to generative AI and LLMs (Large Language Models), with real-world applications in text, image and music;
• A business-oriented module with real use cases and practical guidance on accessing national supercomputing resources.

The course is structured in 7 modules, requiring approximately 8 hours to complete. It is self-paced and designed for flexibility, making it ideal for students, researchers, professionals or anyone curious about supercomputing. Participants who complete the course with at least 70% will receive a certificate of completion.

This MOOC remains a pioneering initiative in Portuguese, helping build digital and computational skills, and supporting Portugal’s strategic positioning in advanced computing.
