The 6th edition of the Advanced Computing Project Call, promoted by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), is now open for applications. This call aims to provide the national scientific and innovation community with access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources, both at national and European level.
The call includes all four types of access, tailored to different levels of expertise and computational needs:
- A0 – Experimental Access (up to 6 months): For newcomers or preliminary testing on HPC systems
- A1 – Development Access (3 to 12 months): For code performance, scalability, and optimisation
- A2 – Regular Access (12 months): For experienced teams requiring stable resource access
- A3 – Large-Scale Access (12 months): For demanding projects with high computational requirements
Available resources include access to Deucalion and MareNostrum 5, two EuroHPC JU systems co-funded through Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR).
Support for applicants
An online information session will be held on October 10 at 12:00 PM (Lisbon time) to explain the call and answer any questions from potential applicants.
This call will also be highlighted at the 5th National Advanced Computing Meeting, taking place on October 22–23 at the University of Aveiro — an excellent opportunity to learn more and connect with support teams.
This initiative reaffirms Portugal’s commitment to promoting democratic access to advanced computing and to the effective use of national and European HPC infrastructures in science, innovation, and technology.
Deadline: November 10, 2025 (Lisbon time – 5:00 PM)
