FCT seeks stakeholders for experimental evaluation of Deucalion

The Foundation for Science and Technology is looking for potential participants to take part in the benchmarking tests of Deucalion, the new national supercomputer.

The work at the University of Minho continues at a good pace to welcome Deucalion, the machine that will boost supercomputing in Portugal. Once the physical setup is complete, the supercomputer will enter the testing and fine tuning phase.

In this sense, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) calls for the various sectors of Science, Technology, Innovation and Public Administration at national level to submit their expressions of interest to participate in the benchmarking tests of the supercomputer.

It is not (yet) for carrying out any research work. This expression of interest will rather serve as a contribution to the final phase of Deucalion’s installation, when the main software packages used by the various user communities will be installed, parameterized and tested.

Contributions are crucial to get the machine up and running as soon as possible – possibly as soon as September.

Interested parties have to fill in a very simple form, which can be found at the following link. Detailed information can be found on the FCT website.
