The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has launched the new application phase for the 5th Advanced Computing Project Call, dedicated to A2 and A3 access. Applications are open from January 16 to March 11, 2025. This initiative aims to position Portugal as a European leader in advanced computing by providing researchers and institutions with access to cutting-edge computational resources.
Simplified Application Process
The 2025 edition introduces a key update: a single form for submitting proposals for both A2 and A3 access, applicable to both the fast track and the full track. This simplification is designed to make the process easier for applicants, allowing each principal investigator to submit one proposal for each track.
- Fast Track: Targeted at projects that have undergone scientific evaluation within the last three years. Results are expected in April 2025.
- Full Track: Designed for projects without recent scientific evaluation, which will undergo detailed review by external experts. Results are expected in June 2025.
This call continues to promote the strategic use of advanced computational resources, such as the Deucalion platform, to support national projects with significant scientific, technological, and innovative impact.
Deadlines
- Applications Open: January 16, 2025, at 1:00 PM (Lisbon time).
- Applications Close: March 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM (Lisbon time).
To support applicants, an online information session will be held on January 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Registration for this session must be completed via the designated platform.
Applications for A0 (Experimental) and A1 (Development) access remain open on a continuous basis, with deadlines organized into different batches throughout the year. Currently, applications for Batch C are open until March 18, 2025. Additional information is available in the dedicated information session, which is still accessible online.
